1985.06.14 - L.A. Weekly - L.A. Dee Da On The Streets [Mention of the band] 1985_022

Transcript (excerpt):

S.N.I.V.’s (Steve’s New Improved Vandals) Lingerie premiere Saturday night had old, unimproved Vandals sniv-elling outside, trying to reroute the sellout crowd to no avail. “I’m no match for Horowitz & Horowitz and rich parents,” squealed Steve-O when former band-mate Joe handed him a court injunction barring the O’s new band from performing Vandals material. The document eventually proved an entertaining replacement for forbidden lyrics and landed in a wad in Nicky Beat’s bass drum. This was Nicky’s first and last gig with the band as he’s turning over the honors, in a post-puberty mid-life crisis, to Chuck “Superman” Biscuits. Beat’s considering joining Guns and Roses, or becoming a famous actor, or retiring altogether. The Dickies, responsible for a semi-hefty portion of this major turn-out, actually began on schedule for the first time in eight years. As the old Vandals exited, all tails and legs, a fire marshal showed up and proved useful by kicking out a lotta people who were leaving anyway.
