On topic: Had a gread dilemma today about what language to choose for my kid to study when he starts school this year. Had to choose between German, English, Russian, French and Japanese. In BG English school education sucks because the good teachers don't stay at school for long - low salaries unfortunately. He'll study English with me and will go to private English courses. Japanese is cool and it's good if you know an exoticl languge but I can't help and control him lol He's smart but not very ambitious and at the first challenge and if I can't get help, he'll throw the textbooks and go watch TV. The same holds true about German except it's not exotic and who knos whether there'll be EU in 12 yrs. The good thing about it is that higher education is free there but once again nobody knows what will happen in 12 yrs. I wanted Russian but ex said no. He thinks kiddo should study an exotic language or EU languge. I think Russians will get from stronger to stronger. Besides Russian is Slavonic hence difficult for Western nations. In combo with English, it's great. In the end it will be either French or Russian - whatever class they put him in. And if I get him to learn English + another languge that'll be more than enough. After that he's free to do and study whatever he wants.
Fuck that was a long one but I thought I'd have more time to decide. Unfortunately this year the school documents are accepted earlier than they first announced and I had to take a quick decision. In the end they'll accept him in all the schools we applied and I'll send him most probably to the one with the strictest discipline and sports not the one with the fancy languages lol

Choosing a language is difficult. In my current job English is essential, like in all global businesses. But it would have been handy to know German or Russian, too, especially with the growing Russian markets.

But in most jobs, English is the most important language besides the local language. When it comes to tertiary languages, it is possible to know which will be most useful, German, Japanese, French, Russian, it's still a gamble.

Dunno how it's in other EU countries but nowadays if you want to find a decent job here knowledge of two foreign languages is almost always a must. Employers' criteria to employees have grown considerably in the last 15 yrs.

That's the way it is with high unemployment: employers can demand a lot and pick the best of the applicants.

And pay less.

I've downloaded from 4share but never uploaded a folder of zipped files. I want to share some of what I've gotten because that is the point of disseminating bootlegs. Hmmmm.

But seriously, he's a technology "have", rather than a "have-not". That's something to be happy about, because in the world he will grow up in, being a have is even more valuable than today.
