Re: The Lost Articles
This article refer to an issue of Rolling Stone that features at least one minor quote from Axl: https://www.a-4-d.com/t4060-1989-07-20-rock-musicians-turning-it-down-axl#15611
I have looked at the issue on eBay, and since Axl or GN'R isn't mentioned on the front page, I assume it is just part of a larger article on hearing issues and that likely there is nothing more to find in the issue than we already have.

Re: The Lost Articles
Vinyl bootleg interviews from the 80s:
- One of them is "Appetite for Conversation" with Slash and Duff, that we have the transcript of:
https://www.a-4-d.com/t558-1987-06-dd-vinyl-interview-appetite-for-conversation-slash-duff
(There is also incomplete audio of it on youtube)
- @Euchre has mentioned a bootleg interview with Slash called "Nice Boys".
And there are some more.
I've thought of buying some of them, but the problem is that they'll have to be transferred to digital format. I have an old turntable from the 90s, so it would take additional expenses (for cables etc.) and a lot of time to figure out how to do it.

Re: The Lost Articles
I am reading Marc Canter's book now, and from Axl's comment from stage in 1986, it is apparent that local newspapers and magazines like L.A. Weekly, Music Connection, Band Magazine, and The Reader, had been writing about the band. We know of the Music Connection article, but the others are lost.

It's in a quote from Axl onstage in early 1986, he says 'Band Magazine', or at least that's what Marc writes that he said.

Well, coincidentally, the archive of L.A Weekly was added to the newspaper collection I have a subscription to just a few hours ago!Soulmonster wrote:I am reading Marc Canter's book now, and from Axl's comment from stage in 1986, it is apparent that local newspapers and magazines like L.A. Re: The Lost Articles
I am extremely excited about this. Of the local magazines, LA Weekly is likely to have so much info. I hope you will be searching with keywords like "Axl Rose", "Tracii Guns", "Roadcrew", "Tidus Sloan", "Hollywood Rose", "Rapidfire", "Izzy Stranded" etc to hopefully catch pre-GNR interviews and articles, too!

I did a quick search for Hollywood Rose and L.A. Guns and I've found only ads, so far (and a brief mention of L.A Guns).

What I am hoping for is an interview with the guys in London with Izzy saying lots of stuff, or Rapidfire or something. Would be very interesting to have more info on many of these earlier bands.

Maybe they weren't causing enough stir to get into L.A. Weekly. But I am sure that smaller magazines more focused on the Hollywood scene, like maybe Concert Shots and Music Connection and so on, have some interesting articles on these progenitor bands. We'll keep on searching

A few short articles
So I have a number of things not here already, but just to see what you want and if you want things, I'm attaching one (can't do more at once, it seems). It's a piece from 2008 in Guitar World where Slash answers questions from readers. I don't see it on the site, but it's a little hard to compare.
Just testing this, but I have much more.
Edit: doesn't seem as if the attachments actually shows up, realized I could add more, so tried one more.

Hey, brilliant! At the moment everything after 1994 is pretty disorganized so can't blame you for not being able to answer it. Everything before 1994 can be found here: https://www.a-4-d.com/t2861-interview-and-article-index (or you can use the pulldown menu from above if you are on a computer).
If we had it, it should have been on this page or the following: https://www.a-4-d.com/f19p700-gn-r-interview-and-articles-archive but I can't find it, either, so this is not included in our archive yet.
THANK YOU!

That's it. Found three more that I don't see here as scans:
* August 1988 Metal Hammer Donington preview
* Total Guitar January 1997 (you have the transcripts, but I have the scans)
* May 2005 Guitar World I think. Brief Slash thing
Can only attach one at the time now because of file size limit. Let me know if the other things are of interest or if Slash solo stuff and brief things is not as interesting.

We are interested in everything that directly pertains to GN'R or members of the band, large and small. We avoid adding interviews and articles about solo projects unless GN'R is also discussed.

Thanks for the guideline.
I can look for more but I filled my quota of uploads through the site. I have found a number of things I did not know through so site so I'm interested in adding more things to compliment the extremely solid work here.

I believe I have increased the amount of storage for attachments. Try now. If it doesn't work, you can try deleting some of your previous attachments that I have already copied and made into individual threads. Alternatively, you can upload the pdfs to a file sharing system and give me the link, or send them to me over email.
I just realized I had forgotten to credit you on the Metal Hammer articles, will do that right away.

I would suggest that maybe we should take even articles about solo projects, especially the ones that contain interviews? They may contain interesting information about Slash's biography, for example. And maybe they could be used as sources and citations about what Slash did after GnR.Soulmonster wrote:

Re: The Lost Articles
The issue of Music Connection with Axl on the cover (second top left in the first picture) must be the one from December 1987 that we're missing.
At first glance, most of the articles are either among the ones we have or among the ones we have already identified as missing.
By the way, I'm about to receive RIP Magazine February 1990. The one that seems extremely difficult to find is RIP June 1988 with Axl and Slash on the cover.

Sure, I was just afraid of the amount of work of transcribing it all, but you are a beast and I assume we have plenty of years still left in us
