Re: The Lost Articles
I saw these and wonder when these promo audio interviews are from and if the audio is circulating. Probably from the "Spaghetti Incident" era, since there is a Gilby interview? Or are they from different times?

Wonder if he would share these with us? I don't care for the memorabilia, only the audio content.

Re: The Lost Articles
I was just thinking about those interview discs a few weeks ago. I have the Tetley one and a four EP interview Baktabak thing and perhaps some more, but I never ever listened to them. Would like to know what's on it. As I have no vinyl player currently (not proud to admit it!!), it would be extremely interesting to listen to these things.
Also got a new Stern 2001 interview with Slash. Need to get around to checking it. Also stumbled upon someone who had quite clearly taken an interest in GnR in 2007, having quite a few things from that era that I guess may otherwise be lost of unavailable. Will have to look through it and see if it's interesting.

I will record the interviews and publish them here with transcripts. Will probably take a while, though

Hey guys,
I have been looking for an interview with Slash and Steven that I think may have been around the same time as this link.
I found some photos of it online, and I think I've watched it before but I can't find it anywhere. I may have overlooked it while searching the archives but if you guys may be have any ideas or may be this is one to add to the collection?

Hmmm. No, doesn't ring a bell. I do have some interviews I haven't added yet, but this is not among them. How about you, @Blackstar ?

After some deeper digging, going back through my YouTube history and rewatching some videos I found the interview!
It’s not an independent video of the interview, but here is the link:
https://youtu.be/IxDlD6FuKK8
The interview starts at the 11.27 mark

I didn't add the interview to the database, because the clip in this video is just about 30 seconds and they talked only about tattoos.
I've been looking for at least a longer version, but I haven't found anything yet.

The interview in this CD is the same as Appetite for Conversation that we have the transcript of:

This one has a Slash interview from 1988 before the Aerosmith tour.

This has an interview with Slash and Duff from late 1988 just before the release of Lies.

In the process of ripping the Nice Boys interview by Guy Boothby. It is a fairly long interview with Slash from second half of 1987 or first half of 1988.

Re: The Lost Articles
So, the interview with Chris Tetley we had before, and is this: https://www.a-4-d.com/t2883-1987-06-dd-audio-interview-with-axl-and-slash-unknown-source-u-k
Then there is another audio interview done around the same time in England, with Slash and Duff, that we have here: https://www.a-4-d.com/t558-1987-06-dd-vinyl-interview-appetite-for-conversation-slash-duff I don't know who the interviewer is, and the interview was apparently released under various names, including "Appetite for Conversation" and simply "Guns N' Roses" in the "Vintage Series".
The third interview vinyl I bought is, luckily, new to us. It is again an Englishman interviewing Slash on the phone, and the vinyl is titled "Nice Boys". I will record, transcribe and put this out.
Having bought the turntable, I am psyched to buy more vinyl interviews now that we might not have. Any links to any?

I would think one of these two latest is the one I have now. If so, you don't have to rip yours, I can do it using my magic machine! The interview I have is a phone interview. It starts off with Slash saying, "Hold on one second, hold on".

Re: The Lost Articles
The ones I bought are on CD, so I have already ripped them to mp3.
-------
So we have three new interviews!
And we now both of us also have the audio of this
https://www.a-4-d.com/t558-1987-06-dd-vinyl-interview-appetite-for-conversation-slash-duff
that we had only the transcript of.
The audio of this one (your Chris Tetley interviews) we already had
https://www.a-4-d.com/t2883-1987-06-dd-audio-interview-with-axl-and-slash-unknown-source-u-k
but it may be incomplete.
I also now have the audio of this:
https://www.a-4-d.com/t566-1992-06-06-fully-illustrated-book-interview-disc-slash
No, it seems the Slash interview I have is a different one. It doesn't sound it's on the phone and the interviewer doesn't sound like an Englishman. It starts with the interviewer introducing Slash and then asking him when is his birthday. Slash says "next month" so it was in June 1988. It's 48 minutes long.Soulmonster wrote:I would think one of these two latest is the one I have now. If so, you don't have to rip yours, I can do it using my magic machine! Re: The Lost Articles
Finally through transcribing this: https://www.a-4-d.com/t4276-1989-mm-dd-nice-boys-audio-interview-slash#16926
The first problem is that I don't know exactly when it is from. I believe it is from very early 1989, but that's as far as I am right now.
Secondly, should I put out the sound files, too? I have them as two wav files of about 24 minutes each.
Thirdly, that Guy Boothy guy is kinda embarrassing.
Still, great interview with lots of new quotes that I will probably spend quite some time adding to relevant sections (because the sections will likely have to be updated to the new quote format as I do it and that adds plenty of time).

Re: The Lost Articles
According to discogs, the interview was released in January 1989:Soulmonster wrote:Finally through transcribing this: https://www.a-4-d.com/t4276-1989-mm-dd-nice-boys-audio-interview-slash#16926

If the release date is correct, it means that the interview was probably recorded about two months earlier.
Slash said in the interview that Appetite had just broken into the top 10 in Holland, and he also mentioned that it was top ten in Australia and New Zealand, as well.
According to these chart stats sites, Appetite entered the top 10 in Australia and New Zealand in October 1988:
https://australian-charts.com/showitem.asp?interpret=Guns+N%27+Roses&titel=Appetite+For+Destruction&cat=a
https://charts.nz/showitem.asp?interpret=Guns+N%27+Roses&titel=Appetite+for+Destruction&cat=a
and the Dutch top 10 in May 1989:
https://dutchcharts.nl/showitem.asp?interpret=Guns+N%27+Roses&titel=Appetite+For+Destruction&cat=a
The Dutch date seems way off, though, based on the release date at discogs. Moreover, Slash says that they were going to release the video for Paradise City, which was released in the US in January 1989.
From other parts of the interview it seems that it was recorded after the Appetite tour was over, so that would make it late December 1988 the earliest. But they could also have been referring to the end of the US tour, so the interview might have been recorded in October or November 1988, i.e. during the break between the US tour and the Japan/Australia one. The fact that they don't mention Lies at all makes me think that October/November 1988 is more likely.
So I think it was probably recorded in October/November 1988 and released in January 1989 (as mentioned at discogs).
-------------
About the audio files: It would be nice if they were posted as well. I guess the wav files are very large, since they're uncompressed, so they need to be converted to mp3. I can do that, if you send me the wav files, and then I'll join them into one audio file, make it into a video and upload it on vimeo.

Re: The Lost Articles
I have received (recently or a long time ago, but needed translation) or am about to receive:
Metal Edge, January 1989 (no interview, only facts about the band).
Creem Close-Up Metal, October 1989 (Slash).
Rock Scene, December 1989 (Izzy).
Blast!, May 1990 (article).
Movie Mirror Metal Pix, July 1990 (no interview, just a small article).
M.E.A.T. (Canadian magazine), September 1992.
Hard Force (French), June 1993 (contains French translation of the Q&A part of the Slash Civil War EP interview and some additional information).
Kerrang, January 15, 1994 (Slash).
Popular 1 (Spanish), January 1994 (Duff - it's the same issue that contained the Axl April 1988 interview that I've already added).
Guitarist (French), July 1994 (interviews with Slash and Gilby).
Popular 1 (Spanish), February 1995 (Slash).
NME, March 3, 1995 (Slash).
There are also two other Slash interviews from 1995 from magazines that have been circulating online (Hot Metal and Hit Parader) that we don't have in the database.
I'll be busy in the next few days, but hopefully I'll start adding the articles after next week.

I got about 4/5 finished with the 1996 Howard Stern interview with Slash before Christmas, but now after Christmas I have been busy adding quotes from the new 1988 inetrviews into the history section. I expect to be finished with that by the end of this weekend, right in time to start working on new interviews you release next week

Re: The Lost Articles
I have also scanned the interviews from Mick Wall's 1991 book, which are longer/unedited versions of the ones he had done for Kerrang. I've added the first one under the respective Kerrang article (there is also the Axl 1990 interview that was already added), and I'll add the rest (three more) after next week, as well.Soulmonster wrote:
