Guns 'N' Roses Front Man Axl Rose And The Skull Watch By HYT: A Rock And Roll Meeting Of Rebels

Axl Rose has led something of an impulsive life, but thus far he seems to have stuck with more or less the same watch brands – watch brands that are surprisingly low key (well, much more so than I would have expected given his famous temperament and fashion choices): Audemars Piguet and Breitling.

The Breitling is perhaps less surprising as band mate Slash also tends to favor Breiling; I have spotted the virtuoso guitarist wearing several models by the Swiss brand on stage over the years.

But now Rose comes out with something horological that he has the opportunity to make all his own: a collaboration with boutique watch brand HYT, which is famous for its groundbreaking use of liquid as the time-telling display.



At recent European dates with AC/DC – the 54-year-old GnR front man has been filling in for Brian Johnson, who had to suddenly step down from the stage due to hearing issues – Rose was spotted wearing the HYT Skull Maori model, which retails for $120,000. Now HYT announces Rose as a new “friend of the brand.” The Skull Maori he is currently sporting is a loaner, which he will wear on stage (and hopefully elsewhere) until he receives his own limited edition HYT timepiece based on the Skull line, which CEO Vincent Perriard estimates as arriving in January 2017.

This announcement comes at an extremely fortuitous time for the niche watch brand: Rose has reunited with some of his band mates from Guns ‘n’ Roses for a 2016 tour called “Not in This Lifetime.” The tour name coined from a quote by Rose in 2012 is apt as the original band had split in the mid-1990s and the three main members – Rose, bassist Duff McKagan, and Slash – have not been on the best of terms since. Such a regrouping of this bestselling rock and roll band has largely been seen as impossible by most aficionados of the music genre. Therefore, the comeback has garnered an unbelievable amount of press, making major headlines and selling out gigantic arenas. The three last performed together live on the Use Your Illusion tour of 1993.

Additionally, as previously mentioned, Rose has taken over for AC/DC singer Johnson on the Australian band’s remaining European tour dates and upcoming North American dates. Millions of people are getting to see Rose play live this summer – and they will also see the HYT he is sporting on his wrist.

Unless he changes his mind, that is.

At Guns N’ Roses’ show in Sao Paulo, Brazil on Friday, Axl Rose improvised a line during “Civil War” about President elect Donald Trump. Rose sang: “Look at the fear that Trump is feeding.”

GUNS N' ROSES singer Axl Rose has condemned president-elect Donald Trump's selection of Alabama Sen. Jeff Sessions as attorney general in his upcoming administration.

Sessions, who has been a key adviser to the Trump campaign from very close to the beginning, has distinguished himself in the Senate for his hard-line stance against both legal and unauthorized immigration.

The Senate rejected then-president Ronald Reagan's nomination of Sessions as a federal judge in 1986 after colleagues testified about racially offensive comments Sessions made as a U.S. attorney in Alabama.

Earlier today, Rose took to his personal Twitter account to slam Sessions as a poor choice to head a department charged with protecting voting rights and running immigration courts.

The singer wrote: "Good people don't listen to, acknowledge, nominate or elect people like Senator Jeff Sessions."

Axl Rose has become the latest classic rocker to weigh in on the incident between Vice President-elect Mike Pence and the cast of the Broadway musical Hamilton. After President-elect Donald Trump called for the show to apologize to Pence, Rose suggested that Trump turn to the business of running the country.

“’Hamilton cast harassed Pence,’” he tweeted. “Do you ever stop whining? An apology? Seriously?! You won, this is the job, Get on with it or get out of the kitchen.”

The GUNS N' ROSES singer made his comments in response to a statement from White House press secretary Sarah Sanders about Donald Trump's mental fitness to serve as president.

"It's disgraceful and laughable," Sanders told reporters about criticism aimed at the billionaire real estate mogul's mental state. "If he was unfit, he probably wouldn't be sitting there, wouldn't have defeated the most qualified group of candidates the Republican Party has ever seen," Sanders said, before praising Trump as an "incredibly strong" leader.

Earlier today, Rose took to his Twitter account to respond to Sanders, writing: "Along with several other condescending adjectives, the current [White House] has no room to call virtually anyone disgraceful. The [White House] is the current U.S. gold standard of what can be considered disgraceful."

Axl Rose, rock legend and frontman of Guns N' Roses, compared Apple CEO Tim Cook to US president Donald Trump — with no further context.

Posting on Twitter, the singer wrote: "Tim Cook is the Donald Trump of the music industry."

One Guns N' Roses superfan named Lucie Johnson hit the jackpot a couple of days ago when she met Axl Rose on a street in California, and she has a couple of photos of the encounter to prove it.

For those of you who don't know, Rose supposedly still resides in the Malibu home that was featured in the video for GN'R's epic ballad "Estranged," which is perched up on a hill in Latigo Canyon. Johnson didn't confirm the exact area she was in when she spotted him on the road, but her Instagram caption referred to "the SoCal life," and based on the footage, she was in a hilly area with winding roads, so most likely around where he lives.
