he Guns N' Roses axeman takes us for a spin around his favourite discs...
We’re coming to your house tonight. What new music are you most excited to introduce us to? What are you making everyone listen to at the moment?
Thank You Scientist, a band from New Jersey.

Five hours later we’ll still be there and, politely, you’ll be wanting to get rid of us – what goes on the stereo to clear the house?
The Shaggs, as loud as I can turn it up. I personally love 'em.

What was the first record you can remember hearing at home? Did it have any effect on where you are today?
One of the first was Kiss Alive! right when it came out. It totally made me want to do what I do.

And what was the first record you bought with your own money? And why?
The Close Encounters Of the Third Kind movie soundtrack when I was 7. Because I was a very odd child.

Any records in the collection you bought because you liked the cover, only to get them home and realize you’d made a terrible, terrible error?
No, not that I remember. Quite the opposite! I remember discovering Iron Maiden browsing the record store and liking the cover of Killers.

And what record is so good it makes you feel like giving the whole game away every time you hear it?
So many. Boston's first album, The Beatles' Abbey Road, Muse - Absolution, Van Halen's Fair Warning, most Queen & Pink Floyd albums... and Manowar's Battle Hymns.

What record for you most fits the term ‘Metal as Fuck’
Pantera Vulgar Display Of Power & Far Beyond Driven.

What decade is most represented in your record collection?
70's... 60's & 80's not far behind....

What would you recommend to unbelievers as the best ‘entry level’ metal record in your collection?
Metallica - Master Of Puppets

And what album from your collection should be in every other home in the land, apart from one of your own?
So many! Hmmm, maybe Led Zeppelin IV.

What’s the vinyl/CD split of your collection?
55% vinyl, 45% CDs. (All represented in the MP3 collection as well.)

And finally, what record would you take with you to the next world, if such as thing exists?
Just one? C'mon! OK, hmmm....The Beatles Rubber Soul or some Stevie Wonder... actually, I know which one – Yes' Going For the One
