Izzy Stradlin called up to duty with GNR after guitarist hurt

Izzy Stradlin will rejoin Guns N’ Roses for five overseas concerts to fill in for injured rhythm guitarist Gilby Clarke, Geffen Records said Monday.

Stradlin hasn’t been with GNR since November 1991, when he resigned and was replaced by Clarke, who broke his wrist in an April motocross accident.

Geffen Records said Stradlin will sub for Clarke at stadium shows later this month in Israel, Greece, Turkey and the United Kingdom.

Clarke is expected to be able to rejoin the remaining 21 dates of the 15-nation tour.

Clarke broke his left wrist in a spill April 29 on a motocross course at Castaic Lake north of Los Angeles while preparing for a celebrity race.

A metal plate and screws were implanted during surgery early this month.

Since leaving GNR, Stradlin formed his own band, Izzy Stradlin and the Ju Ju Hounds, and released an album.
