The To-Do List

Here are the list of improvements that I intend to do:

* Add more smileys

* Create new badges for admins and mods

* Make seely a mod

* Add lyrics to the Chinese Democracy songs in the song database

* Finish the interview database with interviews from 2000 till 2011

* Finish the bootleg database

* Start a picture database

* More AFD Q&As

Just a quick update of what I have been doing. Mostly just layout adjustments, and fixing minor bugs. No functional additions, really. What I intend to do, though, is move the drop-down menus (songs, gigs, members) from the right side widget to the new toolbar at the top. It will simply be easier to navigate and look better. Don't know if I will be able to do it, though.

With more time for updating the site I am currently adding the 30 or so missing shows from 2010 to our database. I will also update the scripts so all song titles and band members are auto-linked. Basically continue where I left off. I am also not finished with the layout tweaking and maybe I will even add a new banner. I am thinking about using this picture:

With more time on my hands (until tomorrow, at least ) I have got to do some work, mostly in the background. I have finished fixing the layout for all song threads. They all now have the same more advanced layout and fixed scripts that gives updated info on how many times they have been played live.

I will now continue with adding the remaining 2010 shows. I guess around 20 shows are now missing.

Hoho, with a little burst of activity I finished adding the remaining 2010 shows! This means that the show section is complete. Finally.

I think I will start updating the band member section now.

I am now finished with the member threads, all the first posts are now in the same format.

I might have to add some pages, though, like for Teddy Zigzag. I am not sure about it, though.

Started adding entries to the interview menu, finished with all interviews up to 1993.

And done with all interviews from 1993!

A new version of the mobile forum has been launched. It looks good.

With @Blackstar here adding new interviews, I have continued to finish the interview drop-down menu. As of today it is complete to October 94.

I also intend to add a sticky post in the interview section with an index of all interviews. It will be convenient for those who don't use the drop-down (and if the drop-down script somehow stops working). The index will list the interviews chronologically, with date, source, title, and who is being interviewed.

I am also working on a history of Guns N' Roses. I intend to write posts in a chronological order about all the major things that happened with GN'R. This is a massive work, and I have just started using Duff's biography to get the structure in place. I will then continue with the other biographies, and then go through all interviews to further add to each post. The idea is to get a completely comprehensive history of GN'R, seen from the eyes of the band members and others who were close to the band. It will tackle controversial topics, so I will try to present from every side, without being biased.

This is very much a work in progress. What I have written so far, is likely to be revised, altered, and changed, as I sift through more sources and try to write things better.

I believe I am finished adding interviews from 1995 to the drop-down menu now. That means I am finished with 4 out of 12 pages of interviews (!), yes, there are many interviews after 1995

I intend to type the interviews I have in the form of newspaper and magazine clips, so that we have them in text and take easily quotes from them. For the time being I'm just uploading the images.

Great! I have started transcribing audio interviews. So much easier to have they in text format when you need to quickly look up something.

I got Vicky and Raz's books a few days back. I will start reading these as part of writing the history of the band. It is slow work, but I think it will be good in the end.

Since I am digging through all of this interviews and old articles, I have decided to write biographies of the band member's too, or at least for some of them. I have started with the biography of Axl, at least up to him starting GN'R.

I seem to miss the Slash part of the interviews Guitar (for the practicing musician) did with Slash and Izzy. I have the Izzy part but not the Slash part. Anyone got this interview?

Obviously, I found it. Unfortunately, page 133 of the interview seems to be missing in the scan. Anyone got the complete thing?

Seems like whoever made the original scans forgot that page. I will probably have to try to buy the article on eBay or something.

I think a graphic overhaul is long due. I still have issues with missing graphics here and there. Could just be my browser, though.

And I would also like to work more on the concert database, especially add setlists to recent shows and make a more consistent layout throughout the database so that every concert thread looks the same.

I actually finished adding setlists to all the 2018 shows. So that part of the forum is up-to-date, again...for a little while. I also updated the show statistics page.

Then I added the recently uncovered 1986 show, so now everything is slightly outdated again

Btw, the wikipedia page for the Appetite for Destruction tour has been updated too.

I think our database is missing some 2017 shows (the US arena shows in the fall).

Currently revising the history section. One of the things I am doing is creating CSS images for more than just band members. Make quotes nicer (I think), but also makes it harder to copying the text and pasting elsewhere.

It fits well with the idea that the history section is told by the guys themselves, and not by me. Quotes, quotes, quotes, and as little "explanation" or "interpretation" as possible. Just what was said.

It definitely makes it all nicer to read (I don't think it makes much difference about copying/pasting).
