When did Axl meet Ice Cube?

Asking because the way Axl looks is throwing me off. The main thing is hair is a LOT shorter than his famously extremely long hair of 1990-1992, and he looks a bit older than 1991-1993 too. It could be 92 or early 93, but is it possible it could also be 1994?

I don't know, I haven't found any reliable information on the date and context of the picture (although most sites caption it as being from 1989 or 1990).

I don't think that Axl looks necessarily older in this picture; it could be just his face expression and the light. As for his hair, he may have had a layered haircut so only the front hair was shorter.

Btw, I realized that the picture was tweeted by Ice Cube - I don't know if it had circulated before.

In the bit of research I’ve done, it has to be after 1991 as the SOX logo of the cap Cube is wearing was only introduced in 1991. So that precludes anytime pre 1991 or 1992

Thing is even when Axl wore layered cuts, the front was always left long.

Google any 1991 pic, or any 1992 pic up to December 1992 through early 1993 (when he had gotten a haircut) by Argentina 1993 it was long all around again. But then in very late 1993 or early 1994 he had it cut again shorter than ever before, all around

In court pictures from October 1993 his hair is long and full around, the bangs are very long and without any thinning or choppiness

If I personally had to guess I would say this photo dated anywhere from December 1993 onward, especially because of the necklace

Ice Cube was from rap group NWA (Niggaz Wit Attitudes), along with Dr. Dre, Eazy-E, DJ Yella and MC Ren.

As you guys probably know Axl wore NWA hats on Use Your Illusion Tour

NWA, on the other hand, recorded a song named "Appetite for Destruction".

And -- this is pretty cool -- according to this Matt Sorum 2018 Instagram post, "We did a track with NWA n GNR that was never released".

I also remember reading about the recording of this track many, many years ago and I believe there was no Axl involvement on it, it was just Slash and Matt (and maybe Duff?) with the rap guys

The guys from NWA met Axl at the LA Forum -- this is most likely on the 1991 shows -- according to this:

Bigg A says there's more unreleased music out there, including a collaboration with some rock legends.

“There is unreleased music still out there,” Bigg A confirms. "We know for a fact that he had two or three or four reels in his car when he went to the hospital. Those reels came up missing. He had songs with Slash from Guns n’ Roses — he had songs with Guns n’ Roses on those reels. Those reels have been found 'cause they wound up in Canada. That’s a whole other story, but what happened to them [since], I don’t know. I don’t know if the estate got them, but there is unreleased music, and Yella has some, I know for a fact that there is some unreleased acapella vocals, that he was working on some records with a couple of producers I worked with and last I heard was that they were up in Dre’s studio.”
