Re: 2022.07.02 - Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, London, England
https://www.mylondon.news/news/north-london-news/guns-n-roses-tottenham-stadium-24383796Legendary rock band Guns n Roses are late for their gig at Tottenham Stadium for the second night in a row and fans are fuming. Despite publicising a start time of 6.45pm, the band still weren't on stage at 8.15pm.
The delayed start time trumps the hour delay of last night (Friday July 1), when Guns n Roses came on stage at around 7.45pm. Frustrated fans said the crowd were getting bored with some complaining of the person next to them showing them wedding photos, people getting too drunk, and the crowd resorting to doing Mexican waves.
Fans called for a refund and complained that the late start would mean a late finish which many would have to miss as they rushed for their trains. Some noted that Friday night's concert had been five or six songs shorter than at previous gigs already.

Re: 2022.07.02 - Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, London, England
Axl said during the show that he went to see a doctor yesterday and that he slept at the venue last night to be able to prepare for tonight's show. So the information in the Telegraph article
https://www.a-4-d.com/t7356-2022-07-01-tottenham-hotspur-stadium-london-england#28158
was accurate.

I feel for Axl - I can imagine it must have upset him a lot. Still, sounds good although it takes some getting used to and on some songs the dynamics between low and high is lost. And people had a great time. Go Axl!!

I AM SO PUMPED RIGHT NOW
THIS IS THE BEST AXL HAS SOUNDED IN TWO FUCKING DECADES. If it wasn't for the shitty, shitty drumming destroying the song (how shitty is this frank guy seriously?????) and for the shitty grooveless rick fortus bullshit this would be like A PERFECT 2022 NIGHTRAIN. Come on Axl now you just need to bring Izzy back and get a good drummer...

it took me a nanosecond to get used to the best low voice that has ever existed in the planet
(sorry leonard cohen, sorry barry white, but axl's low voice is miles above you guys)
seriously, i just listened to nightrain and axl voice's and approach and delivery sound absolutely fucking brilliant, I can't believe it took him TWENTY FUCKING YEARS to make this move
I hope this is a prelude to a GNR reunion

Re: 2022.07.02 - Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, London, England
has axl sang any other song with his GOLDEN LOW VOICE other than nightrain?
I am going through sweeet child o mine and although it sounds a tad better than the usual he is still using his high voice
and that is so not-good that it makes the very professional, hard working, ultra-skilled and highly technical singer carry underwood sound bettter than him
now how much more can this frank guy destroy the songs? I am so glag that I don't usually listen to this "GNR" because this guy just fucking kills all the song with his crap drumminng, crap fills, crap changes, crap everything
it is utterly disgusting
the best axl has sounded in the entire song was when he introduced carry underwoood using that golden low voice
===
wow
axl just did the very last WORD on sweet child o mine using his low voice
"MIIINE"
maybe this is a sign of things to come?
maybe for the next show he can do TWO WORDS with the low voice?
and keep adding words?
maybe in two years we will get the full song in LOW VOICE like we just got nightrain?
maybe he will fire frank?
and then get rid of ricky boy?
and then get a good drummer?
and then get izzy?
Am I repeating myself?
can I dream that one day GNR will be again?

sorry about that negativiity
look i have seen countless drummers playing guns n roses and 99% of them do a great job
Or at least an accceptable job -- by acceptable I mean that they "disappear" on the song, meaning that you listen to the song and you don't think about the drumming, you don't get distracted by it
some of the guys that play GNR over the years were actually just as good as steven or at least good enough that you don't worry to much or that j=yyou just get used to them
like matt
like fred coury from those shows in 1987
and like tommy clufetos from the "slash and friends" shows about 10 years ago, what a good drummer
seriously, any medium-skilled level drummer can play those songs properly
but axl has constantly chosen guys that just can't
brian is a huge drummer but he is not made to play GNR songs the same way slash is a great guitar player but he is not made to play samba
and this frank dude is the absolutely worst
you gotta respect the song
that is rule #1 oin the music business
if you are good enough -- like clufetos, like so many -- then you can change the song and add your own thing to it
you gotta be good to do that
and being good has nothing to do with "druming technique"
it's about knowing where to place stuff, about timing, about feel, groove etc
this frank dude has none of that
and to add insult to the injury, for whatever reason he seems to believe that he is better than the songs
but he is just not

Look, I don't think Frank is great either, but I wouldn't rag on him for not being the best drummer in GN'R. I am sure he does the best he can. If anything, I'd criticize Axl for hiring him, but then I realize that other factors play into things like hat, like social skills, reliability, salaries, etc.

He really started struggling under Welcome to the Jungle - I don't think I have heard him have so much voice problems before. It must be terrible noticing your voice go, not being able to reach those high notes accurately and with any sustain, after only four songs into a set.

Here's what Axl says after Estranged, as far as I can tell:
"Okay, so as you can probably tell, I'm having a few issues [pointing to throat], but these shows are really important to us [?], I slept here last night to make sure...so I'll be switching the songs [?] vocally, I hope you don't mind. We would like to [?]".

Up to You're Crazy he kept attempting to sing in the way he usually does and hit the high notes, but he couldn't and was switching to low voice.

I didn't hear much difference on Jungle at this show compared to previous shows. He's been struggling with it on this tour. They even slowed it down (as well as the other songs in the beginning of the set) at a couple of shows, presumably to help Axl, but it sounded weird (that was probably part of the reason the show in Sweden wasn't received well) and didn't help anyway.Soulmonster wrote:He really started struggling under Welcome to the Jungle - I don't think I have heard him have so much voice problems before. But on the second part of Estranged his voice really gave up.

Oh, you can rest assured that I put the blame 100% on Axl for hiring Frank, Richard and Melissa (and all the other "talented and harding working" musicians), for keeping them in HIS band and for preventing an actual GNR reunion
I also blame Axl for imploding GNR in the 90s, for not releasing any proper Guns n' Roses music in 30 years, for running a sad, disnheartening nostalgia circus for 30 years and for being the biggest wasted talent in the history of the music business
I don't think that there was ever any better singer (consistently up to 1991) and I mean that in every possible sense that the word "singer" has
