Should Axl have gone Solo?
by Guns N'Roses Fan Sun Apr 10, 2022 2:16 pm
My first thread, I ended up hijacking my own Thread that is questioning if Axl really should have taken over Guns -N-Roses and started posting my thoughts on him going Solo. Those really should have been separate Threads in all honesty. So, here it is, a thread wondering if Axl should have went Solo. I think he should have. I mean, it would have been nice to see at least one Album with released by AXL, maybe an Album called Bitter Sweets,(I could see him coming up with an Album called Bitter Sweets. ) and Fans would know exactly who it is by his distinctive voice and the name and we would love it.

It depends on what you mean by "Solo." In your scenario, is Axl TRULY Solo or does he still have backing Musicians? A Fan uploaded a Hit Guns Song on YouTube and removed all the background music, so no drums, no guitar, no keyboards, no snare, etc and left JUST Axl's vocals. Axl sounded AWFUL in the version with JUST his vocals. The regular version version with backing Music sounds great. The version with JUST his vocals sounds horrendous.
It was said that a Music Producer heard an Axl vocals only snippet of a song before Guns N'Roses got successful and was like,"This Axl guy singing by himself sounds really bad," but thought something like,"This could be a Diamond in the rough," thing and asked Axl to sing the song WITH backing Music, and he did and was like,"Yep, that's it. Him singing with backing Music sounds REALLY good," and they moved forward. So, an Axl only vocal Solo album would sound awful, but an Axl Solo Album where he still has backing Music would sound good.

I was thinking of him still having backing music even with a Solo Album or a few. Also, could you please link to the YouTube video with the "awful/horrendous," Axl only vocals? I want to either laugh or cringe. Lol.

A solo album of Axl playing endless piano solos would be nice, wouldn't it?

Sorry. It was recommended to me one night, I clicked on it, cringed, and didn't click on it again. I went looking for it yesterday to link to it on here and it is no longer there. Axl must have saw it on YouTube, and said to YouTube, "Take that video down. Take that video down now. I'll take it down, Goddamnit!" And poof, Video's deleted. PS. It was a Rocket Queen song that only had Axl's vocals on it. On a side note, there were multiple stretches of complete silence when Axl wasn't singing. It was awkward. The Uploader should have edited out the multiple stretches of complete silence.

Lost for words here.

Nope, probably not. Many youtube vids by and with GN'R have been taken down, probably the record company or management is the one who demands those to be deleted.

That sucks that the "awful and horrendous" Axl only vocals version of Rocket Queen was deleted. I wanted to hear it. Can you at least talk about what made the Axl only vocals version of Rocket Queen sound awful and horrendous? On a side note, you claimed that the regular version of Rocket Queen sounds great. I've always thought the regular version of Rocket Queen, Axl sounds rough and a bit bad on it.

The deleted Video of Axl only vocals of Rocket Queen sounded REALLY bad. Hmm it was all capital bad bad, so BAD. Think of multiple cats with VERY long and sharp claws scratching a chalkboard while doing high pitched yowling screeches. It was HORRENDOUS and one of the WORST sounding singing I have ever heard from Axl. I was SHOCKED at how horrible it sounded. I mentioned how appalling I found My World at first before endearing Fan Comments got My World to grow on me. My World sounds WAY better than the Axl vocals only version of Rocket Queen. At least My World is actually kind of hilarious. Rocket Queen Axl only vocals doesn't even have the hilarious thing going for it. Way worse than My World.

Axl often sings with a rough screech anyways, so maybe it's not that far off from the regular version of Rocket Queen? For example, in this video, Axl goes from a soft voice, to a rough screech within seconds.
