Nikki Sixx: "Guns N' Roses was unavailable for joint summer tour"

Nikki Sixx recently explained how Mötley Crüe came to tour with Poison this summer:
"It was the result of a fan poll the band took, Sixx said, that led to the decision. Well, kind of. Poison was actually the third choice. The fans chose Guns ‘N Roses first, Def Leppard second and Poison third and we’re like, “Really?” he said. “We talked to Guns ‘N Roses, talked to Def Leppard, talked to Poison who was available and the other two weren’t. It just worked out.”

So why do you think GN'R wouldn't do it? Not wanting to tour with Mötley Crüe on a tour called "Glam-A-Geddon"? Axl to busy with his lawsuit or other members in need of a downtime? Preparations for a new record or the RIR gig?
