Re: 2011.09.21 - Press Release - Guns N' Roses Announce First US Tour In Over Five Years
Tulsa World, Sept. 21, 2011:
-------------------------------------
Guns N' Roses mistakenly announces Tulsa tour date?
On Wednesday, American rock ‘n’ roll act Guns N’ Roses announced it will kick off its first U.S. tour in five years on Oct. 28 in Florida.
The 30 dates include a Tulsa listing, but no specific date, venue or ticket information has been announced, according to a press release. Rolling Stone online also reported a Tulsa date.
Nearly all the dates and venues already announced are arenas.
However, online concert industry site Pollstar Pro does not show a listing for Tulsa on this tour, nor does the band’s official website.
The Tulsa date announcement is wrong, said BOK Center officials.
"No, they are not playing Tulsa," said a BOK Center official.
So, unless GnR moves to a much smaller venue, it will not be in Tulsa on this 30-date, so-called arena tour.
We'll update this story if there are any further developments.
GnR, especially its lone original member Axl Rose, has a long history of obstinate, argumentative and eccentric behavior. The band's most recent album, "Chinese Democracy," was released in 2008 after nearly 15 years of wrangling.
GnR spent most of 2010 touring the globe, performing 71 shows in over 30 countries, but not without more than its fair share of really late starts, stage walk-offs, Rose-vs-fan altercations and other problems.
I would list the other tour dates announced, but after this, I'm not sure they're accurate. I'll refrain.
