Guns N' Roses Stars Pay Tribute To Themselves?
Seemingly not content with their performance at Witney School of Rock on Tuesday, Guns N' Roses members Ron "Bumblefoot" Thal and Frank Ferrer decided to spend the remainder of October 12th jamming with a GN'R covers band.
According to Contactmusic.com, the pair baffled the audience by getting up on stage in Oxford with UK based tribute act Guns 2 Roses and proceeding to play two numbers. Thal and Ferrer took guitar and drum duties on Shackler’s Revenge from Chinese Democracy before performing a finale of the band’s classic Paradise City.
Guns N' Roses proper opened the latest leg of their UK dates with a performance at the O2 in London on October 13th. The group arrived onstage at 9.40pm, contrasting the spate of late arrivals that dogged their shows during the summer festival season.
Ferrer and Thal joined Guns N' Roses in 2006, and appeared, along with a number of musicians, on the band’s 2008 Chinese Democracy album. Although they performed it with Guns 2 Roses on Tuesday, the pair of new Gunners didn’t actually play on Paradise City when it was recorded in 1987. Guitar and drum duties for that track were handled by Slash and Steven Adler respectively.
