DF: And it is my pleasure to welcome to our little wicked couch the legend that is Mr. Duff MacKagan. How are you, sir?

DUFF: I‘m good, thanks. It’s great to be here on your couch. Here at Download.

DF: Yeah, yeah. We went all out on the couch actually.

DUFF: How’d you get the couch into Download. I mean it was hard enough getting one of these wristbands.

DF: I know. It was probably dropped in by aeroplane.

DUFF: Maybe so. Yeah.

DF: So you were telling me it’s your forth time now playing Donnington Park and then obviously with your new band, oh no sorry. New band is it?

DUFF: Okay, it’s new to Download. Loaded, it‘s been around. It‘s kind of confusing. We toured the UK. We came here last fall. And the band has been abandoned for 10 years. Although it’s (?) , it gets activated and then kind of put back on a shelf and then reactivated.

DF: Okay.

DUFF: So we put out a record back in 2001 before Velvet Revolver. We toured Japan a bunch of times. We went to like Spain and Germany. Didn’t make it to he UK. Uh, and then Velvet Revolver started and that became the front burner (?) thing for me.

DF: And you‘ve obviously played here with Velvet Revolver.

DUFF: I‘ve played twice here with Velvet.

DF: Twice here, right. Okay.

DUFF: Yeah, then you know the thing came to the end with Scott in Velvet last Spring and we knew we were, we in Loaded we were set to make our second record finally after seven years. And for me it’s a sure sign of music is supposed to happen when it’s supposed to happen. The thing with Scott, we couldn’t have gone on any longer. So that was meant to happen. You know. It’s got to be put to bed and we started making this record, Loaded record, sick (?) last fall and it was one of the most inspired bodies of work I’ve ever been involved with. Really, really inspiring body of songs. And I’m so happy to be playing with this band right now.

DF: Yeah. And now it must be quite a lot different ‚ cause you’re obviously the front man for Loaded this time and all the attention kind of… Do you feel a little more that all the attention is kind of focused on you a little bit more.

DUFF: I don’t. I don’t really pay attention to that stuff. I pay attention, I mean the band flat out rocks when we. It’s a live band. I don’t give a fuck who gets the attention, you know. Me, I’ve been around a long time. People recognize me on playing a place like this. And so it, whatever. I’m the singer of this band and it’s no big deal.

DF: So what time are you on exactly? You’re on around 8 o’clock?

DUFF: We’re on 8 o‘clock. So you know. We’re on.

DF: Second stage, right?

DUFF: Yep. We’re on. No. We’re on..

DF: Third stage.

DUFF: Third stage.

DF: Sorry. Sorry.

DUFF: Yeah. We’re right before, ah..

DF: Meshuggah

DUFF: Meshuggah. And we’re right before Faith No More. So we don’t. We don‘t interfere with anybodys set. I looked at the times what were available. I said: „We have that slot there“, and they gave it to us. So.

DF: So will you be going to watch Faith No More? (?)

DUFF: Yeah, yeah, yeah. I’m gonna watch some Meshuggah and go to watch Faith No More. These festivals are great. We played Rock am Ring and Rock im Park last weekend.

DF: Yeah. When was that?

DUFF: That was last weekend. It was last weekend.

DF: Last weekend. I think it was. Yeah.

DUFF: And it both, both days that band Soundtrack Of Our Lives played right before us. And I’d never seen them live before. I’d heard of them. And there was such a inspirational band to watch especially right before you’re about to play. Really, really good. And festivals are a place where I get to see a band and get inspired by others. And you stay at the same hotels and shit. And it’s just great.

DF: Yeah, the line up, particulary with this one this year is so diverse.

DUFF: Yeah:

DF: And you can get all sorts of different bands through the whole the whole kind of spectrum of rock music and it is really (?)

DUFF: Yeah. I was in a award show last night and it’s like only in London would something like this happen. I‘m sitting at a table with Billy Gibbons from ZZ Top and Jeff Beck and Joe Elliott. You know, pretty cool for me. I’m like, haha cool, I’m at the big kids table. And that new band White Lies is a table next to us. Some Indie band, right. And, um, um, oh fuck. They’re from Seattle the band ai the folk band. Huge in the UK.

DF: Hayseed Dixies

DUFF: No, no. Not Hayseed Dixies. I love that band. But it was. And I presented [..] award to Manic Street Preachers and it was such a div... My point is it was such a diverse mixture of people in music. There’s a like a love amongst peers. It doesn’t matter lika a indie band or alternative. It doesn’t really matter. And I think the kids that are coming to shows these days they don’t really distinguish between a heavy metal band , rock band, alternative if it’s good.

DF: I mean you were talking about Joe Elliott. And of course Def Leppard are playing on Sunday this weekend. So you’re not around for the weekend? You’re flying off somewhere else?

DUFF: We’re off. We’re going on tour with Motley Crue […] in Europe.

DF: Alright. Okay.

DUFF: Yeah so we are...

DF: That must be fun though.

DUFF: It’s good. We start on sunday in Munich. With them.

DF: Okay. Are you in the UK? You’re not in the UK so far?

DUFF: No. We’re. Loaded is coming back to the UK. Do our own tour. Some some our own gigs and some with Black Stone Cherry in October.

DF: Okay. Cool.

DUFF: You heard it here first.
