Gn'R Tour Derails
Tour in jeopardy after six cancellations
Guns n' Roses have cancelled at least seven dates on their Chinese Democracy tour, including two weekend shows in Philadelphia and a Washington, D.C. stop scheduled for tonight. Of the thirteen shows remaining on the outing -- Guns' first since 1993 -- the band has also nixed four additional dates, in Albuquerque, Phoenix, Sacramento and San Jose.
After a reported no-show from frontman Axl Rose, Gn'R pulled out of Friday's Philadelphia gig at 11 p.m., after nearly 14,000 fans were already inside the sold-out First Union Center and openers CKY had played.
CKY report on their Web site that the rest of the tour is off as well.
The tour got off to a rough start last month with the cancellation of its Vancouver kickoff, inciting fans there to riot. Since then, however, the revamped Gn'R had been sailing comparatively smoothly through the itinerary, including a sold-out appearance last week at New York's Madison Square Garden.
At press time, promoter Clear Channel declined to comment on reports that all remaining dates had also been cancelled. The next scheduled stop on the tour is a December 11th date in Greenville, South Carolina.
