Guns N' Roses Las Vegas DVD Due Sept. 21; Izzy Stradlin, Duff McKagan Album Updates
Guns N' Roses' New Years Eve show at the House Of Blues in Las Vegas is scheduled to be released to the Japanese market Sept. 21 on DVD and video.
The recording runs 140 minutes and features the 20-track set list, including four new songs from the GNR's (supposedly) forthcoming new album, Chinese Democracy.
Meanwhile, co-founding guitarist-co-writer Izzy Stradlin, who has released his last two albums overseas only, has given the go-ahead for his latest effort, River, to be issued on the independent Bilawn Records label. According to a Bilawn spokesperson, Stradlin, who has a historic distaste for "stoking the star-maker machinery," chose the tiny company because it was co-owned by recording engineer Shawn Berman of Rumbo Recorders, the facility traditionally used by GNR members past and present.
The spokesperson told allstar that the album will be available on the company's Web site (http://www.bilawnrecords.com) in about two weeks, and should roll into retail stores shortly after. The album also features former Stradlin bandmate Duff McKagan.
Meanwhile, McKagan's own project, Loaded, with ex-Presidents of the United States of America guitarist Dave Dederer, has also recorded a CD, Dark Days, which made its debut in Japan in late July and will likely find a modest home in North America in the near future.

Re: 2001.08.11 - CDNow - Guns N' Roses Las Vegas DVD Due Sept. 21; Izzy Stradlin, Duff McKagan Album Updates
The press release (August 6, 2001) from Bilawn Records, the record label that released Izzy's album "River" in the U.S., August 6, 2001:
For Immediate Release 8/6/2001
FORMER-GUNS N'ROSES GUITARIST IZZY STRADLIN'S NEWEST ALBUM 'RIVER' FINDS A U.S. HOME!
Bilawn Records, a Canoga Park, CA based record label is pleased to be releasing 'RIVER' in the United States and direct though their ONLINE STORE.
'RIVER', an amazing ten song disc, proves that IZZY is still one of Rocks most prolific songwriters. The album features IZZY on guitar and vocals with GN'R bud DUFF MCKAGAN on bass and acoustic guitar, RICK RICHARDS (georgia satellites) on guitars and slide guitar, TAZ (rev. horten heat) on drums and percussion and legendary keyboardist IAN MAC MACLAGAN (rolling stones, faces)..
'RIVER' brings us back to that "classic" rock sound that we've all been missing. The album was recorded at RUMBO RECORDERS, the same studio were APPETITE FOR DESTRUCTION was recorded. Bilawn Records co-owner SHAWN BERMAN handled the engineering duties on 'RIVER'.
'RIVER' will be available on August 20, 2001 directly through BILAWNRECORDS.COM and IZZYSTRADLINMUSIC.COM. It will also be at 'retail' shortly after.
Samples of the album are available on the website for listening in flash format.
