Guitar show has heroes aplenty

Slash is just one of the six-string celebrities who will be in Clearwater Saturday for the Florida Guitar Show. The show, which offers various clinics and performances, will culminate in an all-star jam session featuring the Guns N’ Roses guitar-slinger along with other notable rockers, including Cheap Trick’s Rick Nielsen and Lita Ford.

CLEARWATER — Guns N’ Roses guitarist Slash, fusion six-stringer Al Di Meola and electric bass hero Jeff Berlin are among the luminaries headed to the eighth annual Florida Guitar Show.

Thirty or so national and local artists will give clinics, performances and a jam session Saturday at Thoroughbred Music.

Rick Nielsen of Cheap Trick, Paul Gilbert and Billy Sheehan of Mr. Big, Rod Morgen-stein and Dave LaRue of the Dixie Dregs, Tony Franklin of the Firm and Victor Bailey of Bela Fleck and the Flecktones also are among the notables slated for the free daylong event.

The show is 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at 923 Mc-Mullen-Booth Road.
