Bambang, a 42-year-old Go-Jek driver from Serang, Banten, drove all the way down to the capital in the hopes that maybe, just maybe, he could go to yesterday’s Guns N’ Roses concert despite not having a ticket on him at the time.
As fate would have it, while in Jakarta, Bambang picked up a passenger who made his dream come true.
As told in a viral Twitter post, Bambang picked up a passenger, named Titi, who noticed that his motorcycle bore a license plate from outside Jakarta. She then learned that Bambang went to Jakarta bringing IDR1 million (US$68) he had saved so he could buy a Guns N’ Roses concert ticket, but the only ones he found that were available were beyond his price range.

Moved by Bambang’s dedication, Titi then contacted a friend, Meta, who works at the PR agency that’s promoting the concert, to see if she had any spare tickets for Bambang. It turned out that she did, so Titi then contacted Bambang to pick it up from Meta’s office, free of charge.

Bambang did grab the ticket and go to the concert, later posting pictures from the venue and writing, “Kak Meta and Kak Titi… Thank you so much for realizing my dream since middle school… Hope God blesses you and gives you so much more.”

Titi herself took to Twitter to express her delight at having been able to help Bambang.

After Bambang’s story went viral, Kompas interviewed the Go-Jek driver and learned that he has been a fan of Axl Rose, Slash and co. since the ‘80s — back when he was still in middle school. He mentioned that he collects all Guns N’ Roses albums, from Appetite for Destruction all the way to 2008’s Chinese Democracy, and that his favorite song is Estranged off the Use Your Illusion II album.
Well, we can safely say he will no longer feel estranged in Jakarta thanks to this rockin’ random act of kindness from a couple of strangers.
