Legendary rockers Guns N’ Roses are in talks over hitting the road next year on a money-spinning reunion tour.

Frontman Axl Rose, 53, and lead guitarist Slash, 50, have buried the hatchet after years of feuding and now look set to perform together for the first time since 1996.

Promoters reckon a series of worldwide gigs with the classic line-up could make the musicians an estimated £65million.

News of a potential reunion came from Slash’s pal John Murdy, a boss at Universal Studios theme park.

He said: “I know that Slash and Axl talking again is a really good sign.”

According to Portugese magazine BLITZ, the group have been asked to perform in Portgual in early 2016, though the event and dates are unspecified.

It is believed at this stage the reunion talks are at a point where the band members are reportedly considering complete tour plans, including dates and money.

Well if they "harmonize" in that constellation, why not?

It would fit in with Richard's quotes from recent months that "he's not the only guitarist in current GNR" etc.

Most disheartening of all, though, is what this reunion would mean for Axl Rose’s legacy: He’d be downgrading from “paranoid, perfectionistic, and tyrannical” to “acquisitive, avaricious, and cynical.” He’d be evolving from “genuine eccentric” to “just another middle-aged musician trading on nostalgia, trying to cash in while cash is still on the table.” He’d be dismissing the goodwill of every fan who dedicated serious time to Chinese Democracy, every fan who heard that spoken-sung Count Chocula accent and wondered, How and why the holy hell did he come up with THAT? After spending more than 11 years and $13 million on Chinese Democracy, he’d be disowning the thing. His magnum opus, disavowed. More than a decade of his life, tossed aside in favor of rehashing songs he co-wrote when he was 23 years old, when Ronald Reagan was in office. He’d be betraying us a little bit, but he’d be betraying himself a whole lot more.

He’d also be shutting the door on those Chinese Democracy sequels. In the case of the remix album, that’s probably a good thing. Nobody wants that. I’m not even sure anybody would release that. But I, for one, was sincerely and eagerly looking forward to hearing the “second half” of Chinese Democracy, irrespective of how the world at large might respond to such a proposition. I mean it! I didn’t expect that album to yield a vast trove of great music, but Axl Rose rarely puts his name on anything that’s not at least pretty good and inherently interesting. Furthermore, the very existence of both those albums — even if they existed chiefly in Axl Rose’s imagination — suggested an artist altogether unmoored from reality, and therefore, an artist guided by an idiosyncratic muse, an artist uninterested in making a profit or pleasing anyone.

Scoff all you like, but those choices require an almost religious-fanatical commitment; a commitment to a deluded worldview, yes, but a commitment that’s all too rare in art today. We need more musicians like batshit Axl Rose: musicians who pursue their vision at any cost, financial or personal. We don’t need more reunion tours: reprehensible cash-grabs that spurn integrity and monetize nostalgia. If caring about music is supposed to mean something — anything — we need at least a handful of unyielding, unreasonable, uncompromising iconoclasts to give it definition, to give us direction. Where do we go? Where do we go now?

GNRFrance is reporting that their contacts have told them that there is a European Guns N’ Roses reunion tour planned for May 2016. They reported that if news of a reunion comes out soon, it would be following the completion of Slash’s current tour on November 24th. They also report that Slash is promoting a horror film in early 2016 and will also reportedly work on a new album, but despite this Myles Kennedy will tour with Alter Bridge in autumn 2016. Despite the source telling GNRFrance that a tour is planned, they cautioned to wait until official word due to Slash’s busy schedule.

Former Guns N’ Roses manager Vicky Hamilton claimed on Facebook a couple of days ago that Slash told her that Guns N’ Roses will not reunite for a tour:

‘OK…was texting with Slash who is on tour…he says the GNR tour isn’t happening…so that’s all I know… your guess is as good as mine…’

She added, “He has talked with Axl…it’s friendly I believe.”

Although it is an unofficial announcement, Brazilian journalist Jose Norberto Flesch is reporting that the original members of Guns N' Roses have solved their legal issues that were preventing them from having a reunion tour.

According to Flesch, "Heads up! The 'possible return of Guns' story is stronger now. I've heard that the legal issues have been solved. Now it's up to the band."

"Guns already has an offer ($$$$$$$$) from Coachella for a long time. It was only a matter of solving their issues."

"European festivals are also anxiously awaiting for a resolution for all Guns-related problems."

Loaded reported that venues like Wembley Stadium and other major U.K. festivals are in discussions, although they note that they may be looking at two years before any of these shows happen.

While current Guns N’ Roses drummer Frank Ferrer has recently been promoting the fact that he is in Guns N’ Roses by promoting the band’s merchandise, could he soon be replaced by Steven Adler AND Matt Sorum?
 

Eddie Trunk, the host of VH1 Classic’s That Metal Show and Trunk Nation on Sirius Satellite Radio, discussed some new details on the rumored Guns N’ Roses reunion on the Let There Be Talk podcast. Trunk said he believes a reunion might be imminent, because he has personal relationships with Slash, Duff McKagan, Steven Adler, and Matt Sorum. He said they regularly hang out, send texts back and forth, and have lunch together whenever they’re in the same town. Trunk said that recently, none of them have been available to do anything.

Even Steven Adler who always wants to be on his show is now silent, same with Matt Sorum. Duff is not responding to any text message and same with Slash who is also a personal friend of Eddie. This never happened before.

Eddie Trunk posted a blog last week where he revealed that Guns N’ Roses reunion talks have been going on over the last year.

“I have said for years I think one day some sort of reunion will happen. Why? Because it’s too big not to, the members are still relatively young, and the money is way too attractive to ignore. The main reason I would like to see it is because as a lifelong promoter of rock and metal it would give our genre a shot in the arm. I do believe and have been told by very reliable sources over the last year or so that indeed there have been talks. But “talks” can go several ways as we all know and have seen. Promoters can and sometimes do make offers for bands and tours not currently formed. Hoping the amount of money makes the bands reunite. Zeppelin, Floyd, etc. I have personally been asked to make offers to the guys in Skid Row to reunite by promoters half a dozen times over the years. Offers happen all the time, putting the pieces in place to make tours happen, not so much. Ego, politics, control, money, merch, control of the name and brand, all play a part. Factor in that when a band splits all the members now have their own managers and agents who must then negotiate. So I think 100% there are talks and hopes of doing something with GnR. How close they are or if they actually happen is anyone’s guess. It could be tomorrow, it could be in five years, it could be never. Unless you are on the very inside with lawyers, agents and managers you just don’t know. And with how volatile this stuff can be it could have been set and pulled off the table five times already for all we know.

Here’s where the fans can’t be blamed for speculation; there has been no announcement from any source that this ISN’T happening! To end this all that would need to happen is Slash, Duff, or Axl put out a statement saying this is not happening and they are staying on their current paths. They would have to be on another planet to not know it’s being talked about everywhere. But if Axl came out tomorrow and said “I have a new lineup, here are my new guys replacing Bumble and DJ, here’s what we are doing” , it would all be over. A statement from anyone killing it will stop all the madness. But since that has not happened you can’t blame any fan who wants this for dreaming. And it likely means there are still talks ongoing. So the speculation and rumors will continue until we get an announcement saying one thing or the other.”

The image displayed on the official GUNS N' ROSES web site has just been changed to the band's old logo, further fueling speculation that we are only days away from an announcement of a reunion of the classic GN'R lineup.

Now today according to a industry insider “Guns N’ Roses will be in Los Angeles signing working agreements (contracts)” in early January for their (alleged) reunion and up coming tour dates.

The insider who has life-long ties to countless artists has also tipped off Metal Sludge that the band will be “going to the studio to cut 1 or 2 new songs” in the early part of 2016.

The source also informed us that “announcements as well” are in the works and on the way soon.

Guns N’ Roses fans who have hit cinemas this weekend to see Star Wars: The Force Awakens are getting a pleasant surprise. According to several eyewitnesses, including one of our editors, three brief clips of “Welcome to the Jungle” are being played over black-and-white crowd footage during the pre-trailers programming – with no further explanation.

In other words, either something big is up with Guns N’ Roses, or they’re going for the world record in classic rock trolling. Combined with the band’s recent website redesign, these new videos make it seem clear that the group is teasing a major announcement, although there’s no indication of exactly what’s in store yet.

GUNS N' ROSES is said to be asking up to $3 million per show, with tickets topping out in the $250-$275 range.
