Shlock 'n' roll

Aay ... his name is Alice! Yeah ... and he wears makeup too, Bozo! But if you want to make something of it, you're going to have to face down a horde of fans of shock ’n’ schlock rock legend Alice Cooper at Louisville Gardens next Saturday at 8 p.m. They’ll be heeding Alice's latest concert tour and album call to “Raise Your Fist and Yell.”

Along for the ride will be special guests Guns 'n' Roses and Faster Pussycat. Tickets are $13.50.

His name is Alice

Every day is Halloween for rock ’n' roll showman Alice Cooper, who will be in concert — and in makeup — tomorrow at Louisville Gardens, 525 W. Muhammad Ali Blvd.

Guns ’n’ Roses and Faster Pussycat will open the show at 8 p.m. ■Tickets are $13.50.

There is a review for the Alice Cooper Louisville show in Courier Journal (Dec. 19, 1987) where Guns N' Roses (and Faster Pussycat) aren't mentioned at all.

According to the same Alice Cooper fan page (which seems well informed), GN'R played at that show:

although the ticket says Faster Pussycat and Ace Frehley's Comets.

It is certain that GN'R played at one of those two shows at least, because there's this letter to the Paducah Sun (Dec. 30, 1987):

To the ministers who were trying to ban Alice Cooper and Guns and Roses, it’s never going to work, because rock and roll is rock and roll. You need to stick to preaching about God and not trying to stop us doing what we want to do. If we want to go out and listen to rock and roll, we’ve got the right to do it without these hoodlums trying to stop us. It’s just a bunch of nonsense. They will never stop rock and roll.

The city of Paducah is in the state of Kentucky, but much nearer to Cape Girardeau than to Louisville.
