Interview with Duff - Globo, November 16, 2011
You've played in Brazil with Guns N' Roses, Velvet Revolver and Loaded. What is the difference for each concert?
I remember the first time Guns N' Roses played in Brazil, in 1991 at Rock in Rio. Our fans were like beatlemaniacs. It's like if we had come from Mars. It was very exotic, because no one had been to Latin America. And also, there was no internet, we had no idea we were famous here. But I think the festivals and the fans became more professional. Everyone already treats us like normal humans. But SWU Fest, with Loaded (last week in São Paulo) was one of the best in my life. I find it curious the number of brazilian fans that talk and make requests in Twitter. I mean, in any interview, to any press from any country... Brazil has the best fans in the world.
Do you miss Guns N' Roses and Velvet Revolver?
Everyone misses some stuff. But I see Guns and Velvet Revolver as a beautiful past that I'm proud, but that is over. I have wonderful memories in the bands. In Guns, we learnt how to compose and play together. We were young and we became a family. It's hard to take a look at the carreers separately.
Guns N' Roses was indicated to the Rock and Roll Hallf Of Fame. Is there a chance of reunion there?
There is always a chance of reunion. Well, I'm friend of Axl, and I saw a concert of his new line-up last year in London. He has been following his path, like Slash and I. I have a good relationship with both of them, and it would be cool if the band returned. But I've made the peacemaker role in the past and it wasn't good for me. Today, I'm the father of two children and a husband. I don't want that role anymore, I don't feel confortable. There are managers talks for Loaded to open to Guns. It would be a pleasure to do that.
What about Velvet Revolver?
Slash and I talked about a possible Velvet Revolver comeback, but we don't have a singer. I love Scott Weiland, but his time with us is over. We've been to some situations with him... Besides that, he is satisfied with Stone Temple Pilots.
