Re: 2011.10.29 - AmericanAirlines Arena, Miami, USA
Review from bigrob80305 over at newgnr:
Just got back and they fuckin killed it! It began at midnight with Chinese Democracy and ended with Paradise City at 3 AM! Axl Was very happy, the whole band was so nice your like ???? Which is good, Ashba was super cool and nice with the crowd really worked them and interacted, Bumblefoot humble and nice, Axl shook hands with the crowd on the right side of the stage and had a smile on his face the whole 3 fucking hours they played! Tommy-Chris-Dizzy-Frank-Richard were all great and real professional musicians! GNR nailed it today and it proved why AXL is indeed a fucking ROCKSTAR 3 hours? Try that Lil Wayne or Jay Z? Compared to Rock In Rio-GNR just needed to get a couple of shows in to shake of the rust and they did because the way they performed tonight it's very unfair to all the GNR musicians that they are nothing without Slash because that is false-this GNR kicks ass! The fans got their money's worth and it remains clear that AXL is still on top of his game and rockstar you shouldn't mess with!

And a review from Nocturnalfetish also from newgnr:
Just got home myself, 5 am here. Dexter WAS the intro, I am a huge Dexter fan. Will be posting pics tomorrow, my phone died pretty early. Was around 4th row if there were rows on the GA. Axl Was smiling more then any other time I have seen him, and sounded amazing for the most part, a few sketchy pitches here and there, but he belted some amzing ass shit too. Group was spot on, and over all it was fantastic. Took very close to 2 hours for him to take stage, even bad for them. But as always bow down to the king. Guns and Roses Old and New. Shame so many people did not know the Chinese Democracy songs yuk2. I was banana emoticon rockon and they were hmpf

Re: 2011.10.29 - AmericanAirlines Arena, Miami, USA
And from "arm breaker" at mygnr:
Ok, so I saw them 3 times last year and this was 10x better, let me say that again, 10x better.
I think that may have been best Estranged I've ever heard, ever. DJ nailed his solo perfectly and Ron did superb as usual.
The big story of the night was Axl Rose. His voice was incredible. He held notes I've not seen him hold for sometime. Mickey Mouse appeared only briefly in YCBM, and even then it was a nice falsetto not like the out of breath Rio mess. I was pretty down after watching Rio (like many others I'm sure), but this revived my faith fantastically. The whole production was just real smooth. All the members were on super point, and Axl was in rare spirits it seemed. Lots of crowd interaction and smiles. He did the back and forth road block maneuver on DJ twice (like he did on the mic stand man in '92 Tokyo) and was pointing to and talking about people in the crowd (in a good way). Every fucking moment was awesome.
The wait was not as bad as it may have seemed. It was 2 hours yes, but the boos were short lived and not anything as bad as a bad basketball call. There were 3 times people started booing but it didn't come as bad as Ed Trunk insinuated.
So, to sum up it was amazing. I know of no rock band on the planet that could touch this. Save for some retarded crowd control and a few idiots, it was one incredible night. I look forward to next week in Houston and Dallas, hope to see some friends there.
**Rocket Queen was played.
**Arena was pretty full at one point. A fair amount left before it was over though, fucking butt munches...

And from "dmo" at mygnr:
Haven't seen Axl play since new years eve at Joe Robbie Stadium 20 some years ago, and tonight he picked up right where he left off. FUCKING EPIC SHOW. Voice was in razor n honey shape. Crowd was busting at the seams. Axl was all smiles. They knocked it right out of the fucking ballpark with this show. Was expecting the worst after Rio but I guess it can be hit or miss at this age for him....Tonight was hit, hit, hit! rock3

Re: 2011.10.29 - AmericanAirlines Arena, Miami, USA
The old "Axl was 10000x better this time than last" basically says that he sucked last time. But I guarantee that same person when they saw them last time said "Axl sounded great and better than eva!"

Re: 2011.10.29 - AmericanAirlines Arena, Miami, USA
Review from Gun-Z at mygnr:
I don't post often but I read this forum everyday.. The orlando show was mind blowing for me.. Standing in line since 4.30pm ,raining a little bit, then its time to finally enter the arena, got front row center.. Ron came out to say hi to the fans, got a guitar pick from him! Then "fuckcherry" comes on stage and couldn't wait for them to leave, fucking sucked! (Sorry B fans) then waited some more for GNR to take the stage, lights go down .. WOW! I was a little bit in shock when I saw AXL, so close.. He was in such a great mood.. They were all!! I'm an Original GNR supporter but this blew my mind.. Estranged was very emotional (even tho they fucked up the intro)but .. Wow... The Man himself was on Fire! Smiling, made eye contact with him like 3X! (No homo.lol) RQ,better,NR,nightrain.. Wow.. Sung every song... I'd much rather get a CD song ,new song or even an old song like locomotive played instead of "riff raff" but whatever... He nailed it..his voice was amazing! No words to explain .. My voice and my ears are still fucked up but what the hell.. I just had Axl fucking Rose in front of me singing the shit outta this songs.. Wow.. Long live GNR!

Re: 2011.10.29 - AmericanAirlines Arena, Miami, USA
Review from Miami NewTimes blog:
Source: http://blogs.miaminewtimes.com/crossfade/2011/10/guns_n_roses_concert_review_miami_american_airlines_arena_october_29_2011.php
Saturday night's Guns N' Roses concert in Downtown Miami at the American Airlines Arena was the biggest group S&M experience we've ever had. And believe us, we've drooled on some ball gags in our time.
The Axl Rose Band (and the city-sized, million-dollar operation that carts it around, sets it up, breaks it down and then fondles its jewel-encrusted testicles until it's time to clean up after the ritual, nightly "excretion") had the heel of its pointy stilettos pressed with just enough pressure on the audience's supple taint as to keep the masses screaming, hollering, begging, Thank you, Sir! May I have another?
Like any good leather boy playpen, the AAA had rules and regulations posted big and bold at the entrance -- no recording, no reefer. An announcement rang out on a loop authoritatively telling patrons that purchasing a scalped ticket would land them behind bars.
Did you know Buckcherry was still a band? Yeah, neither did we. But that band's opening set -- resplendent with a big-ass "BUCKCHERRY: LOS ANGELES" pirate flag -- was the start of Axl Rose's intensely drawn-out tease.
Immediately after the opener finished its set, a small army of rocker bros in Buckcherry t-shirts swarmed the stage and broke down the set. About 45 minutes later, it was time for the Guns N' Roses crew members to do their thing. And then what followed was another hour and a half of absolutely nothing, in which the crowd schizophrenically whipped itself into multiple frenzies -- first cheering for its hero, then impatiently booing him, only to return once more to begging for his presence.
Before a single lick was even played, a seriously inebriated man passed out in the audience and, unconscious, was crowd-surfed to safety, where he proceeded to vomit in front of thousands of people who cheered him on and screamed things like, "Can you get me ecstasy?"
Have you ever heard a band boo-ed before it even took the stage? Saturday night was our first time.
Eventually, though, The Master and His Scabs leisurely made their way to the stage in a blaze of pyro, flashing lights, jumbotrons, screaming women, screaming men, rock 'n' roll devil horns, fist-pumping. And then Axl and minions gave it to the audience the way they like it -- loud, hard, and for a long, long time.
The Critic's Notebook
Random Detail: We stayed busy between bands speculating about the weirdest thing on Buckcherry's rider.
The Crowd: Rockers, headbangers, metal mamis and their Judas Priest papis, high-school kids, families, couples dressed like they were going to the opera, one old hippie in a Ben and Jerry's tie-dye shirt that you could see from across the arena, children in Guns N' Roses apparel. Halloween costumes included the requisite sexified everything (cop, angel, devil, nurse, groupie), Homer Simpson, and multiple young men dressed like Slash.
Overheard in the Crowd: The entire row of bros behind us kept screaming "C'mon, you asshole!" as the wait between bands agonizingly crept toward 2 hours.

Re: 2011.10.29 - AmericanAirlines Arena, Miami, USA
Review from Lucio92 at mygnr:
Hello Everybody
I went to the shows in Orlando and Miami, both at first row just in front of DJ and Tommy, also had the luck of seen Axl, Richard and Ron in front of me and grab a pick from DJ and Ron, what a show!!!!! the videos in you tube dont make any justice, Its a LIKE A FUCKING TRUCK COMING RIGHT AT YOU!!!!! its wild you can just close your eyes and focus on every instrument, i am an audio engineer and no way with a cellphone or even a mic you cant capture the sound and emotion of a concert, also the feellings you get when you are there, the interaction of everyone in the band its beyond all your expectaction, i went to orlando and miami show and i had my doubts about a second show the next day, but they did a top notch show in both days..... plus 3 song were add to setlist in Miami, tommy sang My generation, Outta Get Me, axl was on fire on that one!!! and shacklers sound soooo good, tryng to revive a concert through a video or audio recording its like someone trying to recreate a roller coaster experience only watching on a tv, its no the same its you dont hope on!!!. Thank GNR for make 2 days i will never forget.
Axl you are a Legend

Behind-the-scenes story in the New York Post, November 1, 2011:
https://web.archive.org/web/20111102054010/http://www.nypost.com/p/pagesix/let_him_doze_aG9iQ6EdOtSD7gSaBEOqiMLet him doze
No fanfare or security would wake up Axl Rose when he and his band checked in at the Mondrian in South Beach on Saturday. In what looked like a highly choreographed security operation as his tour bus arrived, Rose’s crew cleared the path to ensure the rocker could make his way uninterrupted to his hotel room. Spies tell us the traffic was halted and, “One after another, each crew member got off the bus, with no sign of Axl Rose. As the crowd built up, one guest asked security, ‘Where’s Axl?’ -- to which a guard replied, ‘Still sleeping on the tour bus. Nobody disturbs a sleeping Axl.’” Hours later, a bleary-eyed but well-rested Rose was seen walking through the lobby.
