Fixing problems with the concert drop-down menu. Apparently there was an upper limit to how many entries could be contained in the menu, and I lost a few. While trying to fix the problem I lost almost every one . So now I have to rebuild those menus. The actual concert threads are of course untouched and still to be found in the appropriate section.

Re: What are you doing?
I'm having one of those days too so I am sending you some sympathy.
I have no audio coming from my computer here at work so I'm going home where I have a pretty fabulous HK system attached to my vintage computer with its external terrabyte drive and they all seem to like each other just fine.
Just bought Ry Cooder's new album which I will take home on a thumb drive and then all will be well.
Listened to the one Mark Lanegan song I have twice yesterday - what album do you reccommend? I need more than that one song (Strange Religion) it seems.

I would have to go with 'Bumblegum'. I bought the record after having read a review in the newspaper. Put it on an evening and listened through it in one setting while drinking a bottle of red wine and watching the darkness descend outside. It was mesmerizing. It is now among my top 10 albums.

Bubblegum it is - I have that one song because a forum friend sent me a compilation he made of songs by other artists that featured GNR alumni, specifically Izzy Stradlin, as a co-writer or a cameo performer. According to my friend Strange Religion is one of those songs. Wound Up in a Vega by The Outpatience was also on that compilation and I LOVE that song. I put that Outpatience cd on my wish list and it took me about 8 months but I finally bought it - it is a dated sounding yet first-rate recording with a variety of subgenres well represented in songwriting and musicianship. I've got two songs off of it easily dovetailed into compilation playlists I already had going. Damn shame about West Arkeen.... I think about his passing as a great loss to music every time I listen to songs from that album. Duff McKagan's book touched minimally on Duff's history with West - I can't help feel like West Arkeen needs a place in the archives of Appetite for Discussion.

Re: What are you doing?
I believe you will find a thread about West in the member archive, just use the drop-down and you will find him at the bottom.
Yesterday I read about how West died. According to the book I was reading he got in an accident and suffered 2nd to 3rd degree burns over 2/3 of his body. He then committed suicide 10 days later by taking an overdose of the opiates he had been administered for pain relief. One of the many unsung heroes of the Hollywood music scene.

I didn't know about the burns. I feel for the guy - I'm going to go look at the member archive now. RIP West Arkeen.

Re: What are you doing?
Just returned from a small hike with my three-year-old. We walked around the nearest lake. Almost all the snow has gone now and it is nice to be able to take tours in our forest again without the skis. We saw ducks, ate biscuits and climbed trees. Then we went to the nearest grocery store to buy some food and took the tram back home, loaded up with fruit juice. The mist didn't really matter at all, nothing can put a damper on such a great day.

I am having a nice Sunday. I've been out in the garden...gardening. Sorting family pictures. Tidying up the house. Doing some maintenance on my reef tank. Just chilling.

Re: What are you doing?
We're going to drive from Trondheim where we live to Alta in the far north of Norway. We're going to drive through northern Sweden and parts of Finland to get there. We expect to use three days (we can't drive too far each days with the kids).
Do you have any summer plans?

Late September I want to go to South France. This tour is like custom-made for me, as "Rat Scabies & The Holy Grail" is one of my favourite books (it's been described as "The Da Vinci Code gets the punkrock treatment"):
(Yes, it seems expensive, but it's all inclusive: food, wine, entries, transport... Saving my pennies...)

Re: What are you doing?
WOW! Totally cool! And I want to read that book too.
I really hope that works out for you and that you post a review of the trip in a lengthy serial format with pictures.
I emailed a link to the YouTube vid and this one below as well to my brother. We'd both love this tour too but don't worry, we can't attend and take up available slots ahead of you.

Re: What are you doing?
Fittingly I've just been watching a German docu about the "Knights Templar"...
That book is such a funny & entertaining read, plus it really had effects on my life (if I hadn't read the book I wouldn't experience some of the things I've done). The legends about the "Holy Grail" had often fascinated me anyway. I recommend that book, much better as "The Da Vinci Code" simply for the reason that this story is REAL. (I can confirm, as I met some of the persons described, seen some of the places etc.)
Good idea! Meanwhile I own a camera myself and will do so if things go to plan!
Btw, the tour sometimes has visitors from USA too, so you wouldn't stick out.

I am watching our bird house. We have an IR camera with a mic inside. A blue tit has made her nest inside and laid 9 eggs. She is laying on the eggs now. In a few days there will be baby birds. Fun for the kids...and me.

At first I'm online looking at the glut of stuff in my inbox that I haven't opened yet, but yeah, I did subscribe to most of it. Maybe I'll deal with it later. Now I'm online in A4D. It's much less chaotic in here.

Drinking a beer after returning from a day trip to a small island north of here. It's been a busy weekend of working, jumping on our trampoline, and going on picnics.
