Re: 1985.04.25 - Dancing Waters Club, San Pedro, USA
Chris Weber seems to think he played with the band at this gig:
According to Vicky Hamilton, Chris went to rehab in 1984 and left for NYC not long after [Vicky Hamilton, "Appetite For Dysfunction", page 127]. Maybe he came back and played the Dancing Waters gig? Maybe he is talking about an earlier Hollywood Rose gig? I will read Canter's book again and see if I can figure it out.
We had been playing together for a long time and everyone wanted to do something else. That was around early '85. Then we got back together. I think it was about New Years '86. We played another gig; they made references to that in Rolling Stone that I played with them at Dancing Waters, like a kind of reunion gig. Izzy booked the gig and they didn't have a band so I said I'd do it. But that was basically the end of it -- that was the end of my collaboration with Guns N' Roses [Rock Scene, October 1989]. |

Re: 1985.04.25 - Dancing Waters Club, San Pedro, USA
Another reference to the same Dancing Waters gig:
Axl: "Izzy booked this show at the Waters Club (in San Pedro) with no band, right? He goes, “Dude, I got a gig.” I go, “Great man, I’ll come down.” He goes, “Yeah, you want to sing?” And then we tried to get Slash, but Slash had to work that night. So we got Chris Weber from the original Rose family and we had Rob Gardner, the original drummer for LA Guns, and Steve Darrow who played in a version of Hollywood Rose with Slash and I" [Rock City News, January 1988].
Sounds to me like a Hollywood Rose gig and not the April 25, 1985, GN'R gig. Because it makes little sense that Duff would be out of the band.

Hollywood Rose played at The Waters Club on December 31, 1984. This is probably the gig that both Weber and Axl are talking about.
