I can't listen to the videos - I am at work and they will know.
I just saw this tweet and thought they added S.O.D. to the setlist for Dallas, but no

I don't get it. Tweets are weird and this one is especially confusing but the bottom response made me laugh. I guess it is better to tweet any old thing than to not tweet at all.

Axl Rose is the sole original member of Guns N’ Roses and the sole reason 1,500 fans sardined themselves into the House of Blues on Wednesday night. But the strange thing is how well the show worked in spite of him.
The mercurial Rose actually showed up on time – or as close to it as he gets -- taking the stage at 10:20 p.m. for a 10 p.m. show, after a surprise set by the Dallas band Secret of Boris. It was hard to tell what mood he was in. Barely recognizable behind sunglasses and a series of wide-brimmed hats, Rose said little to the crowd and inexplicably kept vanishing backstage for long stretches while his 7-man band carried the 2-and-1/2 hour show.
At 51, Rose is no longer the sprinting dervish he was in GNR’s stadium days. The spandex shorts are gone, replaced by a shapeless T-shirt and a leather jacket that hid his torso. Yet he showed flashes of the old charisma whenever he sashayed across stage, leaped on to a stage riser, or did his patented mike-stand spin dance.
His singing was even more hit-and-miss. Rose has always had one of rock’s most distinctly odd voices – a shaky whine that’s part Willie Nelson, part Katherine Hepburn. But on Wednesday, his voice often sounded tepid as he strained to hit banshee notes that were clearly out of his reach. Like Robert Plant before him, Rose might be better off adapting his style to fit the limits of his larynx.
As the show wore on, his voice warmed up and occasionally took flight, especially in a marathon version of “Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door.” But the concert mostly revolved around the energetic, air-tight band anchored by ex-Replacements bassist Tommy Stinson and keyboardist Dizzy Reed, who’ve both managed to stay in GNR since the ‘90s. Three guitarists – Richard Fortus, Ron “Bumblefoot” Thal and DJ Ashba, wearing a vaguely Slash-like top hat – took turns nailing the solos in hits like “Welcome to the Jungle” and “Sweet Child O’ Mind” and a grab bag of covers (“Another Brick in the Wall Part 2,” “Live and Let Die,” The Who’s “The Seeker.”)
But as good as they were, they were no Slash, who left the band acrimoniously in 1996. Maybe Billy Corgan can pull off a Smashing Pumpkins show with no other original members, as he did a few weeks ago at the Palladium. But Axl without Slash is more like Plant without Jimmy Page: He can sing the classics as long as he wants, but they’ll never have the same magic without the original guitar hero by his side.
His voice sounded really good from the clips I have heard . For some reasons, US reviews seem to be harsher than reviews elsewhere.

I went back to that review to see if there were any comments, there were only two (yet):
Lonnie Cook1 hour ago
How horrible of a review, you obviously weren't at the show. Axl sounded great and the crowd loved it! He was super energetic.
Brian Atchison4 hours ago
What an awful review. It seems that you stayed home and borrowed quotes from other critics.

Re: 2013.05.29 - House of Blues, Dallas, USA
Yes, the review was a rehash of tons of other reviews so poorly written I took to reviewing the quality of the reviewers but the redundancy began to bore me and I thought it safe to assume posting reviews of bad journalistic skills would bore any reader as well.
I still want to remark on the well written ones, positive or negative reviews. I give Axl himself credit for being big enough to laugh at a well written drubbing if a performance deserves it because he'll already know that part although I suspect by now he is intentionally oblivious to critic's opinions.

Re: 2013.05.29 - House of Blues, Dallas, USA
I always take pride in the work I do and it is dismaying to see such poorly written reviews. I mean, does a reviewer have to focus on Slash being gone now, 18 years after he left, when the band has played numerous times in the USA in recent times without him in the lineup? I mean, just let it go. Have the decency and courtesy to review the band WITHOUT bringing this moot topic up. Judge the performance for what it is based on what it is, and not what something else used to be 20 years ago or what you would have liked it to be in an alternative universe. The band members are adult men, professional musicians, and the reviewer is supposed to be a music critic. It's unprofessional and indecent.

On the bright side, I think artificial reviews such as the one above are part of the reason more and more artists are using social media, such as it is so far, to communicate directly with fans and podcasts like Dropping the Needle are becoming more likely to represent The Real Deal.

Yes, and hopefully do interviews directly with the fan base and not via people in the media who are less knowledgeable and interested

With this gig Frank has played more live shows with GN'R than Izzy ever did.
