Guns N' Roses are set to make their festival debut of 2002 headlining the Summer Sonic festival, in Japan on 17th -18th August.

After show press release about the shows in Hong Kong and Japan on the band's official site gnronline.com, August 22, 2002:

RECORD BREAKING GUNS N' ROSES

Guns N' Roses, who opened their Chinese Democracy Tour in Hong Kong last week to rave reviews, broke both festival attendance records and venue capacities at whilst headlining Tokyo's Chiba Marine Stadium (35,000 plus) and Osaka's WTC Open-air stadium (25,000 plus) for Japan's Summer Sonic Festival.

A spokesman for the Summer Sonic Festival said "Both festivals were record breaking sell outs. We were very honoured to witness such spell-binding performances from Guns N' Roses"

The band are currently on their way to England, where they headline Leeds Festival this Friday 23rd August, and headline their own spectacular show at Docklands Arena on bank holiday Monday, after headlining Belgium's infamous Pukkelpop Festival.

So it's like, you know, it's reserved. But you know, when I played it with Guns N' Roses or with Bucket, you know, they would file in a single line, watch the show, clap, go crazy. Then all stand up, file out in a single line. No one would pass someone, you know [...] They go crazy, but it's all like, you know [...] it's all like kind of premeditated. Like, "Okay, here's the song that we get to go crazy on and then we'll stop."
